In the summer of 2015 a song appeared online that quickly developed into one of the most smile-inducing, beautifully contagious debut singles of the year. The wholly enigmatic, somewhat unpronounceable sjowgren were behind 'Seventeen', releasing the indie-pop belter with little fan-fare but the track spoke for itself, clocking up well over 1.5 million streams on SoundCloud, which soon translated to Spotify too. 'Now & Then' followed-up brilliantly at the beginning of this year, and now the Bay Area outfit have released their third single-proper in the shape of 'Waiting Room'. The typically life-affirming number builds out of its subtle palm-mute beginnings into their heaviest, most raucous rock effort to date, as they continue to show effortless progression. In a world where label, manager, PR etc. etc. often seems to matter too much, 'Waiting Room' is yet another flawless self-release from one of the most fascinating, mysterious and utterly brilliant bands on the planet. -G.O'B
